How can counseling help me?
There are times when the challenges in life feel overwhelming.
Counseling can help you clarify your current problems, assess your strengths and develop your optimal potential to solve problems that are interfering with your daily life and relationships.
How long are counseling sessions?
Counseling sessions are 45 minutes long. Brief sessions and extended sessions are available as needed.
How often will we meet?
We will usually meet once a week. But during a particularly difficult time we may meet more often. As things start to feel better, we may meet less often. We will work together to figure out what will be best for you.
How long does counseling usually last?
Sometimes you just need the support to get through a difficult time, and counseling may be brief and consist of only a few sessions. But if you are struggling with more serious issues, it might mean having more sessions. Together, we can decide the time frame that will work best for you, depending on your situation, and we will re-examine the plan as needed.
Do you prescribe medication?
I do not prescribe medication. However, if necessary, I will refer you to a physician who can meet with you and determine your medication needs and if they can be of benefit to you. I will work closely with that physician to collaborate on your therapeutic progress.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not participate with insurance carriers. As a mental health practitioner, accepting insurance would require me to share your personal information - which becomes a permanent part of your medical record. One of the benefits to private-payment is that your information and treatment remain confidential (except in the cases outlined in the HIPAA Privacy Policy or when you give your specific consent). For your convenience, I accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
At your request, I will provide you with a receipt which you may submit to your insurance carrier for possible reimbursement through out-of-network benefits. Reduced fees on a sliding scale are available on a limited basis.
How do we get started?
I look forward to working with you. Call or email me directly to make an appointment. To ensure confidentiality, I answer my own calls and emails, and I will return messages within 24 hours whenever possible.
